Formula’s engineers, certified crane operators, and ticketed tradespeople have extensive experience creating pile-driven foundations in both marine and land applications. We safely and efficiently complete steel pipe, timber, H-Pile, sheet, and cast-in-place reinforced concrete piling systems.
With our extensive fleet, we install piles using a variety of methods tailored to the unique requirements of each site. Our equipment includes: crawler, rough terrain, and truck-mounted cranes; churn and auger drills; and vibratory and conventional (drop, diesel, hydraulic) hammer configurations. We are also adept at working in extreme environments, including permafrost and coastal soils.

PRINCE GEORGE AIRPORT FOUNDATION

This was a $100,000 project in Prince George, BC.
PANDOSY BRIDGE FOUNDATION
Owner: City of Kelowna
This was a $250,000 project in Kelowna, BC.
PRINCE GEORGE PARK HOUSE CONDO SHORING
Formula Contractors was contracted to design, supply and install a sheet pile shoring system for a 110,000 square foot below ground parking garage in Downtown Prince George. Work consisted of driving approximately 360 pairs of sheet piles 30 to 40 feet below the existing surface. Work was completed on time and schedule. Equipment included a Terex HC 110 crane, APE 200-6 vibratory hammer and an IT 38 wheel loader.

Owner: Peace River Hydro Partners
This project included the supply and installation of 110 locations of 460 mm diameter drilled piles that were socketed into a shale formation to help prevent a slope stability issue at the Site C Hydro Electric project near Ft. St John BC. Formula completed this task by utilizing it’s Soilmec SR-30 Drill to auger and advance each pile thru 10.0m of unstable overburden and then drill and advance each pile by 2.0m into a competent layer of shale.
PADDLE RIVER BRIDGE

Owner: CN Rail
This emergency Pile Driving / Bridge Construction Project was located at Mayerthorpe Alberta. The existing 800′ timber trestle was destroyed in a fire. Within 24 hours, Formula mobilized to the project site and completed the required H-Pile foundation, installed all the required pier bracing, precast bridge caps and precast tub beam installation for CN Rail – Sangudo Sub Line. These works were completed within 13 days.
CANYON CREEK SHEET PILE RETAINING WALL

Owner: Shell Canada Energy
Project located near Bragg Creek Alberta. Formula was hired to design, construct and certify a Sheet Pile Retaining Wall that was required to protect infrastructure from an erosion event.
KAYBOB WATER SYSTEM – RIVER WATER INTAKE
Completed: April 2015
Owner: EnCana Corporation
Project located near Fox Creek Alberta. Formula constructed a Sheet Pile Coffer Dam and constructed a Sheet Pile Water Intake Cell including construction of a Pump Intake, Grizzly Screen and associated structural steel work.
LIARD RIG CELLARS
Completed: November 2013
Owner: Apache Canada Corp.
Formula assisted with the design and fully constructed a sheet pile shoring system for Apache Canada Corp. for the Liard BC drilling program. The cell consisted of a Sheet Pile Driven cell reinforced with waler system and a cast in place reinforced floor.
WIDC BUILDING SHORING

Formula designed and installed the required foundation shoring for the new WIDC Building downtown Prince George BC.
RTA MODERNIZATION PROJECT

The Rio Tinto Alcan Modernization Project located at Kitimat, BC. Formula was hired to design, supply and install a sheet pile shoring system for the required underground services upgrade.
TUPPER WEST GAS PLANT
Completed: June 2010
Owner: Murphy Oil Corp.
Construction of new tank farm and elevated control building and office foundations. The job included over 200 drilled pile caissons.
NORTHWEST COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Completed: November 2009
Owner: Northwest Community College
Supply and installation of foundation piling for Northwest Community College expansion. Piles were driven using drop and diesel hammer configurations. Each location was then augured and cleaned. Reinforcing steel cages were installed then filled with concrete.
