Renovations and Repairs

The Johnson Street Bridge in Victoria BC. Is a three lane riveted Bascule (lift) span built in 1921. Formula completed a major structural upgrade in the spring of 1999. Items included removal and replacement of concrete decks, removal and replacement of structural rivets and addition of key structural steel elements. All of this was completed while keeping one traffic lane and pedestrian access open.

  Second photo: adding new gusset plates and replacing existing corroded rivets on the main counter weight towers.
  
  
• Third photo: new side walk over hang brackets were installed and later a new concrete sidewalk was cast in conjunction with the new driving surfaces.
  
  
• Fourth photo: Rail Bridge renovations & Span replacements. This was achieved while rail traffic continued to move. Picture shows new steel piers and structural cap beams.
